Cleanscape Software International appoints new VP of engineering

San Jose Calif -- August 15 2000 -- Cleanscape Software International has announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Aivazis as vice president of engineering. In his new role Dr. Aivazis is responsible for overseeing all software development activities at Cleanscape's Southern California development offices located in Pasadena.

"We are pleased to have a seasoned software expert like Michael heading up our new development efforts," said Ted Batha, president and CEO of Cleanscape. "Michael's experience and background in both commercial software development and scientific problem solving are a natural fit for Cleanscape's vision of software development environments."

Dr. Aivazis is well known in the Linux(r) software development world. Dr. Aivazis was featured at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in New York in February of this year speaking on configuration management software for Linux. Dr. Aivazis' experience with the design and implementation of high-end development tools for the commercial sector, as well as with the development of end-user applications on Linux for the scientific and engineering worlds give him a unique perspective on the development of software engineering systems.

Dr. Aivazis holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Particle Physics and a B.S. in Physics, both from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is also a Principal Investigator at the California Institute of Technology (CalTech) Center for the Dynamic Response of Materials, a Department of Energy Center of Excellence. His current research activities include the construction of Problem Solving Environments for numeric simulations of complex physical systems.

Dr. Aivazis was formerly vice president of technology and development for ADX Corporation, and the director of technology for ParaSoft Corporation, where he co-authored software development tools such as Insure++ and CodeWizard.

"I look forward to heading up Cleanscape's new business unit," said Dr. Aivazis. "With the opening of our new Los Angeles development center, Cleanscape is positioned to be the leader in the development of environments for the creation of end-user applications."
