Flint FAQs Last update: 15-May-07 ---------- Installation/Un-installation Q: Why is this installer referred to as 'beta', and why is a logfile opened after install (and uninstall)? A: Extensive changes were made to this installer, mostly by automating all installation and un-installation tasks. It has been tested on Win98, NT, 2k, XP, and Vista, but we would like to know any installation issues in the field. Q: What happens specifically when I run an installation? A: Four things may occur: 1. A directory subtree is created under %PROGRAMFILES%, specifically %PROGRAMFILES%\cleanscape\flint. 2. For Win98/XP/Vista, a registry backup or system restore point is created. 3. The 'main' subdirectory is added to the system PATH via the Registry (or autoexec.bat in Win98). 4. A shortcut icon for FortranLint is placed on the All Users desktop. Q: How do I uninstall it? A: There are 3 steps: 1. Delete the shortcut icon from your desktop. 2. Remove Flint from PATH by right-clicking My Computer, selecting Properties, clicking the Advanced tab, clicking the Environment Variables button, and deleting the Flint path from the PATH textbox under "System Variables". (For Win98, delete the line from your c:\autoexec.bat file.) 3. Delete the entire %PROGRAMFILES%\flint directory tree. Because there is so little to do, the decision was made to forego an uninstaller. Please advise if you'd rather have one. Cleanscape GUI No items at this time. Command Line Q: I installed the product but when I run flint from the command line, I get "file not found". Why is that? A: In WinNT+, you must exit your command prompt and start a new one. In Win98, you must log out of Windows, re-run autoexec.bat, and restart Windows. These are Windows limitations.
